The Kindergarten Heroes curriculum covers all subjects.  In addition to the subjects outlined below, each week we provide a themed curated craft suggestion.

The live classes will begin with a brief (2 minute) "mindful moment" to calm the body and prepare the brain for learning.   Students will then participate in breakout sessions on a conversation topic of the day.  These "two minute talks" with a partner each week foster ongoing connections among students and allow the students to truly get to know each other. 

These opening moments are followed by a  language and math warmup and then one or more mini lessons covering a variety of academic and social skills (ex: literary analysis, reading comprehension, calming strategies, speaking and listening skills, problem-solving strategies, etc).

Thursday's class is play-based to honor students' need for communicating and simple connection.  Students will play games, share, and connect in a less formal setting.

We are an education service provider, not a school.  This program offers a complete printed and digital homeschool curriculum with matching supplemental classes to extend your homeschool learning and provide social connections.  The parent or guardian remains the students' primary teacher.

Kindergarten Heroes™ is a secular kindergarten curriculum that can be used by families of any faith tradition or worldview.  It covers not only character traits (such as honesty, innovation, hard work, enthusiasm, etc.) but it also covers all the core subjects so it is a complete whole-child kindergarten curriculum.  Should we add inspirational supplements in the future, they would be sold/packaged separately.

It is not expected that you be online with your student.  Feel free to get a cup of coffee or attend to other responsibilities at that time!  Replays will be available if a student misses a class.

It is legal to homeschool in all 50 states but the requirements will differ state to state.  It is the parent or guardian’s responsibility to be familiar with the laws regarding education.

Topics to be familiar with include, but are not limited to:

• Paperwork: Most states require formal paperwork be filed stating that a student is being homeschooled.
• Attendance: How many days or hours equal a “school year?” Is this information to be submitted to a state agency or are these records kept on file in case of an audit (by the State Department of Education)?
• Assessment: How is proof of a student’s progression provided? Is a portfolio of work samples required? Are there any testing requirements?
• Curriculum: Double check for any special curriculum requirements. What resources can be utilized, if necessary, from the local school board? Can a student attend “special area” classes such as P.E., music, etc.? Are special education resources such as speech therapy available? Can homeschool students participate in state testing on campus if required?

We suggest you start by checking your local school board’s website or calling them directly.

Yes.  It includes a huge pre-printed kit, with packets for each week.  Since the printed packs take 8-10 weeks to ship  registration for the classes closes on June 30.  In addition to the printed kit, you also receive access to an online curriculum library, should you need to make extra copies for your student.  The library also includes our song and dance videos and our character trait videos.

Yes, the live classes cover only a portion of the curriculum. Expect 1-2 hours of additional work outside of class each day to complete additional practice activities available in your weekly packets.

The classes are held Monday through Thursday for 45 minutes at your choice of 10am or 11am EST.

The material is covered in 34 total weeks, with weeks off for Thanksgiving, Winter Holidays, New Year and Spring Break.  (Weeks 33-34 and Weeks 35-36 are grouped in one week each of live instruction due to the review nature of these weeks).

Orientations will be held the third week of August and the first classes are the fourth week of August.  The last week of classes is the last week of May. 

The following weeks are off:

• November 21 (Thanksgiving Break)
• December 20 (Winter Break)
• December 27 (Winter / New Years Break)
• April 11 (Spring Break)

In the event you have a vacation or cannot make a class, replays will be available.

This program is a complete-year kindergarten program and we encourage you to be a part of the fun for the entire school year because your child is going to learn so much!  Vacations and holidays can be taken at any time but if something comes up mid-year and you're not able to complete the program long-term, please know that refunds will not be provided after classes begin.  This program is best suited to families who plan to homeschool through the duration of the program (36 weeks) and value a consistent class cohort for their child.  Please understand that changes mid-year are disruptive to other students and it also represents a spot that could have been filled by another.

All Common Core State Standards for Language and Math requirements are met between the live classes and the curriculum.

You may cancel by August 1 and receive a refund, LESS the cost of the digital curriculum provided ($199) and the printed set ($500) if already printed.

To complete classes and the curriculum, you will need basic school supplies (pencil, crayons, glue, scissors, etc) and a device/internet connection with which to log in to the live classes, which are held on Zoom.

For each class, please have either a handheld whiteboard with dry erase marker and eraser OR blank paper and writing utensil.

You can supplement the paper-based lessons with manipulatives however, these are not required to be purchased as we provide printed versions of any manipulative called for in the program.

Most supplies called for use common everyday household objects, that you are likely to already have.

Additionally, all the suggested weekly read-aloud books are read in class each week so you don't need to purchase those or borrow them from the library unless you want to!
